The 2016 Toyin Falola International Conference on Africa and African Diaspora (TOFAC) is usually distinguished by its awards offered to deserving academics and personalities whose exemplary achievements are profiled as reference for younger generations.
The awards came after the stimulating plenary key note by Prof. Nimi Wariboko, the Walter G. Muelder Professor of Social Ethics. and Chair of Philosophy, Theology and Ethics at the Boston University School of Theology, Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
This year's awards went to the following:
Prof Jide Osuntokun, the Nelson Mandela Distinguished Africanist Award
Prof. Jide Owoeye, Kwame Nkruma Award
Prof. Nimi Wariboko, The Ali Mazrui Award for Excellence in Scholarship
Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade, The Thabo Mbeki Leadership Award.
