Dear Patrick,
Sorry for the delay in replying to your query. I am now going through my June email
from an internet cafe in Addis Ababa. I spent most of the last month in the field- filming in Axum,
Yeha, Awassa etc.and only looked at random mail.
The video on textiles featuring Dr. Awosika can be downloaded from
In fact there are two videos related to textiles featuring Dr. Awosika on that site.
Due to some settings in 'you tube' there were some distortions.
and discrepancies between sound and the visuals. I was not happy with that. I shall also upload the videos in vimeo
in August.
Let me respond to Kwame's question on a related topic. Kwame commented on China's new role as producer of
Nigerian textile. Indeed I was shocked to see some made-in-China machine made imitations of
Nigerian embroidered garments some time ago. That issue was also discussed in the video by Dr. Awosika.
West African states have to become protectionist and pass appropriate laws
to protect the textile sector.
