Do not worry because in Akan ethnic parlance, back in Ghana, if you are still alive but referred to as "the late...", it simply means you are being blessed with many more years to enjoy life. That is why Professor E.J. Alagoa should have a dance in the proverbial  forest and at home! For, he will live very long, indeed to be 100+ years old!

If anyone refers to me today as "the late A.B. Assensoh", I will smile and say: Amen!

I inadvertently wrote "the late Prof. E. J. Alagoa ..." in an earlier version of this post. I meant to write "the then chairman" and got things mixed up while cutting and editing the text before posting it. I sincerely regret the grievous and embarrassing error. I have already apologized to the eminent professor who is very much with us.

My first visit to Oloibiri on October 12th, 2011 was an eye-opener to the lack of vision of Nigeria's leaders, from top to down. I totally gave up after several back-and-forth phone calls and e-mails with Prof. E.J. Alagoa, the then Chairman of the Bayelsa State Tourism Commission on strategies to turn this site into a job-creation, tourism center. The summary of what I heard was the "federal government should come and help us." Really? You expect those who have parceled out your land as their oil blocs to "come and help" you? More perplexingly, Oloibiri is literally a stone's throw from Otuoke, the only South-South village that will host a presidential household in Nigeria--for the foreseeable future.
