African Energy Business Leaders and Developers to Convene in Charlotte
October 4th – 6th Event to include Ambassadors and CEOs
Charlotte, NC Thursday, August 29, 2016
The Carolinas, believed to be the largest energy economy in the eastern United States, is emerging as a leader in sourcing energy services, products and project development facilitation in sub-Saharan Africa. On October 4th through
6th African and U.S. energy policy officials and executives engaged in the Africa – Carolinas energy trade will meet in Charlotte to learn about opportunities and develop partnerships with which to pursue a considerable range of projects. A predecessor conference held in 2014 in Charlotte drew nearly 200 and since then trade has grown.
The Energizing Africa through Partnerships conference produced by E4 Carolinas features his Excellency, Girma Birru, ambassador of Ethiopia to the United States and former Ethiopian Energy Minister, and Jim Rogers, University Fellow,Duke University Rubenstein Fellows Academy, and former Chairman & CEO of Duke Energy.
The second day of the conference will provide an intensive examination of African energy trade with panels on "Where and What?", "Who and How?", "How to Profit and Keep It" and case studies of Carolina companies successfully conducting African energy trade. The conference's third day will consist of up to 14 thirty minute one on one sessions between parties interested in developing or expanding their African energy trade and African countries and companies and U.S. federal agencies and companies facilitating Africa Energy trade.
David Doctor, President & CEO of E4 Carolinas, observed that "Due to the Carolinas energy industry's size and diversity andits proximity to sub-Saharan African, a considerable energy trade has developed in the past few years. African countries and companies are increasingly seeking out Carolina-based partners and this conference will concentrate on increasing everyone's knowledge of opportunities and potential collaborators".
The conference sponsors include AEG International, a Charlotte-based African energy product supplier and project developer, and the professional service firms Greer Walker, K&L Gates and Parker Poe.
