On the matter of Jos University Library inferno about 30 yra ago near my residence in London I saw a church building which functiobed as bookshop and I felt scandaluzed how this should be alliwed to happen.
Over the years I got accustomed to the state of knowledge of the domicile: It is not the physical structure that characterize usage but intent as shown in the objects with which the building is equipped.
University of Jos by the burning of its powerhouse: the library is now in a paroxysm of death. Nothing short of a mobilization of an emergency session of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors is needed with Unijos Librarian in attendance. Vice-Chancellors must pledge immediately copies of burnt volumes to be housed in a separate building for use as reference materials on site before the task of investigation and rebuilding and restocking of another library is accomplished.
The second move stems from my initial observation. If universities without a library are simply a glorified collection of houses, the amount of security deployed around libraries round the click must be higher than those on Vice- Chancellors lodges.

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Sad News, and Our Joint Collective Efforts
I bring sad news
The library of the University of Jos was burned to the ground yesterday, with all the holdings for the Faculties of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, Education, and the Department of Geology and Mining. Two photos attached. Not a single book was recovered. The fire incident is being investigated at this time.
The important thing for you and I is to give our support for the university to rebuild.
This is a major disaster.
