Yes, there are other polls that say otherwise
CAUTION: This has yet to be confirmed
Two important corrections from an earlier posting
1. How many are they? The answer from Bill was "hundreds!"
2. It was Linda Tripp and not Gennifer Flowers who said THOUSANDS !
Piece of history : In 1998, the Lewinsky scandal was food for the tabloids and the main diet for the UK's sanctimonious Sunday papers (The Times, Statesman, Observer, Telegraph, The Independent, all of them) in which this story about "hundreds"/ "thousands" appeared. (Just the other day there was this critique that foreign newspapers owned by foreign interests should not be poking their noses into America 's political affairs or trying to influence the outcome of American presidential elections. (In the UK, a man of knowledge informed me that the House of Windsor controls about 300 ( three hundred) very influential media outlets in the US - "House of Windsor" he said, not, "The United Kingdom" or "Great Britain"
1998, in which year, as in earlier and later years most African presidents were actively using/ invoking their executive powers to indulge in philandery (no different from some of the Naija professors who do as they please, prey on their weak and helpless female students over whom they wield their own presidential powers, they too must have been thinking, some of them still wondering about Saxophone Bill, "Is this the guy who they say is the leader of the free world and the world's most powerful man and yet he can't even do as he please in total peace and security in the privacy of his own office?"
I guess that the French, with their custom of a bird in the hand and two in the bush must have been laughing in derision too, that Bill was going to be impeached for merely indulging...
The very worst about all this was when Mr. President & First Lady went to Church in South Africa where they took holy communion (Bill had arrived with a few hundred businessmen – but on that fateful Sunday, the pastor of that particular church had no mercy and had selected the passage about a woman caught in adultery as the gospel text on which to base his sermon – this was shown on CNN, Bill blushing, Hillary holding and rubbing his hand and trying to console him…
However, there is often much sympathy for the woman who has been "wronged" - not least of all among the female species, some of whom will surel cast "sympathy votes" for Mrs Clinton
