The questions any sane mind wants to ask are: "WHY?" Why in the 21st century? Why in a nation struggling with sustainability of education? Why in a nation where higher education is struggling to find its place and space in the annals of world recognition? Why in a society that is bedeviled by mass illiteracy? Why in a nation where if anything is needed to bail its citizens out of its draught of knowledge it would be found on the pages of books? Why, when people are dolling out monies, left right and center, in other societies to endow libraries and institutions? Why, when Malcolm X has long admonished the pan-African world that "Education is our passport to the future"? Why on earth would anyone, anywhere, any time do this? WHY? Just asking why???
I don't get it!

I bring sad news
The library of the University of Jos was burned to the ground yesterday, with all the holdings for the Faculties of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, Education, and the Department of Geology and Mining. Two photos attached. Not a single book was recovered. The fire incident is being investigated at this time.
The important thing for you and I is to give our support for the university to rebuild.
This is a major disaster.
