One does not have to take it so far.
Its possible to pay for representatives of your townspeople to attend the ceremony.
After all, the Nobel was initiated by a Swedish national, if I recall correctly, not one from Nigeria or even Nigeria's SE.
If one thinks the Nobel represents kowtowing to forces inimical to one's identity, then one can simply reject it, as Satre did, although I read he later offered to take it.
Chidi is suggesting a central point though, which Kenneth Harrow has also earlier suggested on this list- what should be done to respond to what may be understood as the Eurocentric character of the demographics demonstrated by the Nobel Prize for Literature?
