In relation to these Executive Order (EOs), the ASA has hit hard and fast. Its aim has been exquisite. The principal targets have been squarely hit.
This swift ASA action—along with similar actions by many others Nationwide—is vital. The ASA is much to be commended.
All the EOs that President Trump has loosed will likely end up in the Courts. Of those current three (3) that bear directly on "Immigration/ Migrant" matters; each concerns direct EO violation of root Articles—Liberty/ Individual Rights/ Fundamental Freedoms Guaranteed—of the American Constitution.
It is one thing for President Trump to repeat his "election shouts" to his supporters, just to let em know he's "still on the case". It is quite another to pursue multiple challenges of the American Constitution; that which is "Sacred" to ALL Americans; that of which he, as President, is Principal Guardian and Protector.
By September/ October, things will have settled enough to see how much of what the President says, is "personal shouting"; and how much (if any) may hope to secure the backing of law.
By that time we shall also have got a feel for the rhythm/ the beats/ even many of the "lyrics" (amended) of his objects and procedure—all of which we already know in general outline.
The ASA will do well to keep a close watch on these and other vital matters—as I'm sure it will. Tis equally important to monitor closely what supporters of these EOs are up to; and of course what those like the ASA are doing as well. There is likely to be opportunity for broad and deep "United Front" activity by ASA, other bodies, and their "Friends United" in the USA and further afield.
In the meantime, much fire and fury. Many latent divisions/ wounds in the body politic will be re-opened. Other new divisions created. Race/ ethnicity/ class will be exposed to dangerous/lethal forces. Foreign powers/ interests and ordinary friends of America will watch with close attention.
Many thanks to ASA for getting this ball/ these initiatives quickly into play.
Best, Michael V
