Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - The Myth of akwụkwọ anaghi atụ asị in Igbo Discourse

Thanks, Jumoke. Will visit the link and learn more. That's opens up one limitation in the technology of our human constitution. Just speculating, yet  curious about such limitations, just as I am curious of death and what really happens thereafter. Are we really formatted to operate within these limits or are there forms of knowledge we are yet to access to exceed such limits? Perhaps when we succeed in travelling to deep space and encountering science elsewhere (the worries of Prof. Hawking catered for), then we can be certain about our hidden powers.

There is a medical condition known as Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM), the study of which can help us better understand how memory and forgetting works scientifically, beyond explanations that give agency to the human will in remembrance. Although we have learnt a lot about how we can better remember and retain information consciously assimilated, as in when we study for a degree, the scientific fact is that Sometimes we cannot do anything about what we remember or forget.

See this essay in The Guardian about HSAM and research on memory:
