Subject: Tidbit
Good evening Michael,
A few tidbits, political in nature.
First things first, I believe we should celebrate 150 year of Canada by acknowledging the Indigenous peoples of Canada as the first founders with the English and the Iroquois Confederacy as the second, while the French and the Wendat as the 3rd founding nations.
www.thestar.com That First Nations were so brutally pushed aside after they had in fact worked with French and British explorers, fur traders, and buffalo hunters was perhaps the worst indignity. |
Recently (within the past four months), Wasausking First Nation has passed 3 historic referendums, while at the same time, electing a new Chief and Council. Chief Warren Tabobondung maintained his leadership as Chief. This would be Elijah's great grand son and my brother. The referendums ratified the Anishnawbek Education Strategy (see Union of Ontario Indians), Wasauksing First Nation Constitution (see attached), and Wasauksing First Nation Land Code.
anishinabeknews.ca Providing Anishinabek News to the community. Anishinabek include Odawa, Ojibway, Pottawatomi, Delaware, Chippewa, Algonquin and Mississauga peoples who occupy territories from Fort William First Nation in the northwest, along the north shores of Lakes Superior and Huron to Pikwakanagan in the Ottawa Valley, and across central and southern Ontario to Aamjiwnaang First Nation near Sarnia |
Sending my best to you and Pat, and will be in touch in the very near future.
Love and blessings,
Chi Wassim
