Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: Fragments Of Poetic Thoughts (45)

Dear All,

I have been following discourse in this village square and those topics as they are treated, always enlightened me and colleagues in Nigerian disability community. Because, we always further cuss and discuss most of the topics treated. Though, everyone is free to voiced his or her opinion on any issue, to agree or disagree as he or she may found suitable, I'm at pain as well as my people when we read contents here (in this listserve) and found to our chagrin and consternations, people defending Fulani herdsmen that they don't killed as media widely circulated.

Analogous to this is the claim that Fulani herdsmen are peaceful nomads who go about their cattle rearing business without disturbing their neighbours on whose land they graze their animals.
Thank God, we have associations of persons with disabilities. If some of these people open up on their experience or encounter with the killer nomads, it will change negative perceptions.

Furthermore, some people are supporting politicians of their choice and claiming they aren't corrupt! Just because they are in opposition? Nigerian politicians can hardly be trusted, that's the bitter truth. Before some of them contested for elective posts, they are humble and easy to access. As soon as they won an elective posts, they became very far from their "poor and common" friends.

Most of us living with disabilities(some fresh from Fulani herdsmen matchetes cuts and wounds that imapired their body) can attest to the fact that there are killer cattle Fulanis and that corruption is a thing we've knowledge of. But, as we are so weak and powerless, there's little we can do so far. From 1960 independence till date, we are still agitating for improved welfare through favourable legislation which suffered several setbacks during the previous regimes.

Anyone talking that corruption and killer Fulani herdsmen are mere propaganda tools, used by government or opposition to settle scores should please pray not to join this community(Nigerian disability community) as he or she will be convinced beyond doubt! Those who received severe matchete cuts and still survives will help educate the unbelievers. Those who daily lose their limbs on our roads will testify of corruption. Likewise, many who became deaf through cerebral meningitis (a disease that can be vaccinated against but which funds for vaccines has been carted away) by corrupt government functionaries. We're the evidence God will use against our leaders when the judgement day comes. Never mind that some of them tries to give a mere 5% of the looted billions to persons with disabilities or their organisations so that God can cleanse them of their sins and corrupt practices. We in disability community are still being used and dumped while our colleagues in other lands are fast setting pace in every areas of endeavours; we are lagging behind because government is yet to enact Nigerian disability bill into an act of parliament to fast track mainstream disability issues and inclusiveness in every sector of the nation.

Hi Chidi,

I'm on a train to Stockholm and agonising over you downgrading Brother Buhari's anti criminal corruption moves as "political Propaganda"
