Following up toyin’s suggestion about the use of national languages in education, here is an extremely valuable intervention on the issue. Boris diop, the Senegalese novelist, has come out with a talk in which he would have the Senegalese replace French in the schools, and as a national language, with Senegalese languages (I gather it is wolof and pulaar (Fulani) and presumably serer.
