Dear All:
Several of our Dialogue Brothers and Sisters are familiar with former Dillard University President Samuel DuBois Cook, who recently passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, at 88. THE NY TIMES had a beautiful obituary published about him on Sunday (p.28), in which one of the letters he exchanged with Dr. King was extensively quoted; he was, in fact, President of the student government association of Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia, when he and Dr. King were classmates.
It just dawned on me that we need to read about President Cook, the first black scholar to be employed and tenured at Duke University in Durham, NC, USA. Therefore, I am happy to share the wonderful funeral program! May President Cook, my Dillard University President and Mentor, rest in perfect peace!
A.B. Assensoh.
