Subject: ||NaijaObserver|| LAGOS DOCTRINE: HOSTILITY AGAINST NDIIGBO BY THE NORTH MEAN ATTACK ON WHOLE SOUTHERN NIGERIA
Sociopolitical leaders of Southern Nigeria convened in Lagos yesterday to deliberate over the escalating political crisis in Nigeria since the Arewa "Youths" ordered Ndiigbo to vacate all 19 states of the North by October 1st, 2017 or be forcibly evicted. The threat specifically mentioned interest of the so-called youths to seize landed properties of the Igbo after they've complied with the group's eviction order. Leaders from the Southeast, Southwest and Southsouth geopolitical zones jointly resolved to confront the affront of Northern youths together. They arrived at the resolution that any hostile act meted against the Igbo shall, from now, be construed to be an attack on the entire South. Igbo leaders were, therefore, counseled to abstain from meeting to dialogue with the North on bilateral basis without first consulting with the two other zones of the South.
Southern leaders further resolved to dial up the pressure for Restructuring Nigeria ASAP. For a start, they demanded for implementation of contents of the 2014 National Conference report which was rusticated and trashed by the President Buhari on assumption of office on May 29, 2015. The Acting President, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, was given till October 1, 2017 to produce guidelines on how to implement the Confab report. The caucus further emphasized the demand to return Nigeria to "true federalism", similar to the structure set up by the country's founding fathers during the First Republic. The historic Lagos meeting was the first time, since Independence, that Southern Nigeria has unified behind a stance in dealing with the North. The greatest gift by the Arewa youths to the South can now be said to be the eviction order by the former demanding Ndiigbo to vacate all 19 states of Northern Nigeria before October 1, 2017.
