Its good that you are beginning to express in our discussion on these subject aspects of the rationale of your dismissal of a project that bears close relationship with your own advocacies.
What exactly in the IPOB approach attracted the level of force represented by army tanks, torture and murders? You might not be justifying the gov'ts methods, but those methods look rather ridiculous to me. Buhari keeps working hard, ironically, in making a hero out of Kanu and of highlighting the validity of his Biafra vision. Beginning from imprisoning him for two years to refusing to release him on bail in spite of court judgements to rolling out tanks and solders with assault rifles against unarmed people and those purportedly armed with sticks, stones and incendiary bottles, declaring IPOB, which has killed no one, a terrorist group while Buhari remains the grand patron of the Fulani terrorist militia and their umbrella organization the Miyetti Allah, which has massacred in thousands in a land grab orgy across Nigeria, and getting the eviscerated SE governors to proscribe what is essentially an idea that mutates across generations. Such a stupid plan can be concocted only by a person with little knowledge of the history and meaning of Biafra or a person out of touch with reality.
On the referendum issue, we are still at stage two. Stage one is-we want referendum.Stage two is govt saying we shall not give you referendum. We prefer to kill you rather than grant your wish.Stage three is the govt declaring we are ready to discuss the possibility of referendum. Stage four is the govt declaring that are ready to allow the referendum. Stage five is the referendum actually holding.
You are insisting on stage three when we have only reached stage two.
Ojukwu could have handled various stages of the first Biafra secession drive differently, leading to more productive outcomes. Same with Kanu in this second drive. I would like to appeal to all who have better ideas to apply them. There is a great gap between theory and practice in human management.
Kanu is the most forceful, most impactful advocate we have now. Let us make the most of the momentum he is generating while working to eliminate the raw edges of his method. Only God knows when this kind of opportunity will emerge again in a nation where activists and politicians are not able to sustain strategic advocacy up to the tipping point where fundamental reconfiguration of the polity takes place.

I can see that you and Kanu exhibit the same level of emotion on this Biafra issue. That level of emotion is counter productive. Issues like Biafra sovereignty ought to be handled with level headedness, which is why I go with Professor Nwala's "Alaigbo Development Foundation" and its method.
I said somewhere that IPOB was not outlawed because of Biafra agitation, it was outlawed because of its method of agitation. I also want to say here that the army was not sent to Umuahia because of Biafra agitation, there was threat and challenge and of course a confrontation between forces loyal to Buhari and forces loyal to Kanu became imperative, the outcome, you and I already know.
On the matter of referendum, Toyin, do you sincerely think that in every normal society, as soon as one drops a proposal, it must be accepted by everyone? Do normal human societies work that way? What has happened to consensus building? Do you sincerely believe that if you want to leave a country, that the country you are leaving from should not have a say on some issues your leaving may throw up? Do you sincerely think that Kanu handled this matter the best way it should have been handled?
