I agree w segun. I can't imagine zim could have had a worse 10-15 years since he turned autocrat, and I don't believe he maintained his position without the army. Now he bucked them to put his wife in office. How much worse could it have been? No excuses any more, African states deserve decent rule, not simply good rulers. He was bad on both scores, after having been a hero of independence… how different from a nyerere he has been

This should never have happened but for the unbridled selfishness of Mugabe who should have retired long time ago coupled with inordinate ambition of his current wife to maneuver into position to succeed her husband—a very poor political calculation. Unfortunately, it is not likely that Zimbabwe will be any better with Military incursion into governance. This is most unfortunate.

Zimbabwean Military Coup: Mugabe Placed Under House Arrest In Harare
Embattled Zimbabwean President, Mr. Robert Mugabe, has been placed under house arrest in Harare, the capital city, by the military. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that this was disclosed by South African President, Mr. Jacob Zuma. The BBC, quoting Mr. Zuma's office, also reported that Mr. Mugabe told the South African President on the phone that he was fine.
President Buhari Urges Calm, Respect For Constitution In Zimbabwe
President Muhammadu Buhari has called for calm in Zimbabwe and respect for the country's constitution. The call was made in a statement issued on Friday by Mr. Femi Adesina, the President's spokesman. According to the statement, President Buhari is urging all political and military stakeholders in Zimbabwe to avoid any action that may spark conflict in the country and misery in the Southern Africa region in general.
