I'm not a highly degreed or methodological or diplomatic scholar or individual, but I will say this. I understand Black African "religion, deities, demons, magic, black magic" etc. are purposely mistranslated. Some better translations: Black African science, Indigenous Black African science, Black science, Pantheism, whereas these "deities" can be reclassified as - physical elements, - physical phenomena and/OR - psychological phenomena One of the best examples is "Ogun" which is a compound or "agglutinative" word.

From "O" (it, he) "gun" (rises, inclines, lifts). So Ogun is everything and anything that rises, excited energy, rising energy, anything coming into the clearing or present. Ogun notably also is translated as "Iron", a physical element. "Deities" or "African Pantheons" "Orisha" in the Yoruba sense should be understood and retranslated as periodical tables of elements, physical and psychological, subatomic forces, prime forces as identified by the indigenous people as key elements/forces in life.

These "elements" are both seen and unseen. These elements were "anthromorphicized" (given human attributes or designs) to make explanations of these scientific phenomena easier to remember. Whereas the current Western/Eurasian "periodic table" in science is only a list of metals, metalloids, atoms.

The question anyone who debates this should ask is this: If Black Africans have religion, magic, "idol worshipping", "satanism", "sabeanism"...then where is their "science system"? Did they not have a science system? These are huge politically motivated mistranslations of indigenous Black African science systems which, by ommission, makes the human brain infer that Black Africans had no science systems. There should be a politically motivated retranslation movement to re-establish these systems as "Black African indigenous science".
