Trump just introduced legislation that would require the return of the statue of liberty to France because it is asking the world to bring their tired and persecuted, not only those with high tech skills. Under Trump's rule, his own grandfather would not have qualified for immigration nor would the father of Steve Jobs and parents of many high achieving second generation citizens; but Obama's father would have qualified, though he had better things to do in Kenya than stay and hustle for Macjobs. Victor Hugo warned against such a discriminatory immigration policy because the Hunchback of Notre Dame who was arrested and detained by immigration officials was the one who saved the republic when authoritarian populists seized power and imposed a dictatorship. The poor workers should know that poor immigrants are not the cause of their poverty.
