Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Africa Trending (1)

I have not laughed so hard for a long time. It reminds me of the answer my Mom gave. She was a student in London and one asked if  she lived on trees in Africa. She said yes, she used to swing from one to the other.

Really, what is Professor Harrow talking about?

I don't understand Professor Harrow. What is your point? Someone once asked if I learnt English when I got to Jamaica as a Sabbaticant. I said, of course yes. My people back in Africa lived on trees, and never heard about English. I had to come to Jamaica as a Visiting Lecturer in Philosophy to learn English.

Could I ask Professor Harrow if there were teachers in USA, given the eventful regime of Donald Trump, which seems to suggest what many of us always knew about the underbelly of America - primitive and backward exceptionalism!

This is misleading. I read the piece out of interest, and in face the interviewer, Catherine brouee, says, people have all kinds of ideas about Africa, and I am asking you whether there are bookstores in Nigeria so you can set the record straight. Of course I know there are.

That gets twisted, below, by the single word "seriously," that misrepresents what brouee said.
