Yvonne Aki Sawyerr campaigned and won the mayoral contest for Freetown under the APC flag, obtaining 59% of the votes cast! Which would suggest that those votes could also be cast for the APC presidential candidate in the upcoming runoff...
Correction: On a personal note, Yvonne is maternally a first cousin of my daughters etc. ….

It's one more crowning achievement in our era of Woman Power. In the given circumstances or indeed in any circumstances it's quite an achievement. There is a saying which begins, " Behind every successful woman there is....." ( fill in the gap) in her case behind her is her devoted and supportive husband and family and tribe and nation who must all be congratulated.
(On a personal note, Yvonne is maternal a first cousin of my daughters and I lastly remember the very energetic role she played at the funeral engagements and the funeral of their mother Ebunolrun Sawyerr Coleman in Surrey, on the 15th of July, 2011 and after that reports about her very energetic contributions to various project endeavours, not least of all in the construction of a 5 Star Hilton Freetown Cape Sierra Hotel, and going further back in time her efforts as co-founder of the Charity known as the Sierra Leone War Trust For Children and (of course) other worthy and necessary development causes.
May the Almighty bless, protect, and guide her to greater success in dealing with the many challenges that confront her and the nation (such as relieving the capital city of its overcrowding and congestion that's putting such a strain on its housing, sanitation, health, education, transportation facilities etc. ) May the Almighty make her, her supporters and co-workers equal to the gargantuan effort and cooperation required in restoring our home town Freetown to greater heights. Someone please say Amen.
