Additionally, if you permit me to dissent just a bit and align fully with Afua Hirsch's position in the article: Winnie was not just an activist, because that is such a tame word to describe her role, and really does not do justice to her experience. She was a warrior, a fighter, a soldier, a field marshal, a captain, a general. She was on the very frontline of a brutal battle very day the apartheid regime lasted. Let's remember this when we crucify her from the comfort of our suburban cushy lives.
