in response to cornelius's question, who divides the bible (the jewish bible, called the torah) into portions, i can't say. what i do know is that the torah, written on parchment and rolled into scrolls, has no divisions.
which makes it very hard to find your place!

Subject: Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: Poetic Thoughts
Of course Chidi is not the Almighty. He is not even President Buhari. But, just like e e cummings , as a freeborn Nigerian citizen, Chidi, the thinker and creator of his own poetic thoughts does not need any permission from the police - he has every legal, political, poetic and grammatical right to write as he likes, without any interference from any-body! Don't get him or me wrong, only he can sing his song, play his own solo and if you don't like it or you don't think it's "satisfactory" or sufficiently funky, or like some bitter-sweet funeral music it's lacking class A sebene , you are free to go and play your own solo, write your own song and sing it too, or if you so prefer, give it to Plácido Domingo to sing it for you.
Who says that Chidi Anthony Opara, FIIM has to "give titles " to his poems? You mean titles like "Knight Grand Commander of the Humane Order of African Redemption "? He must "please give titles" to his poems?
Not even the Almighty does that in his Torah - it's some other guys , not goys, "scribes" who for example give titles to the weekly Torah Portions and the titles of the weekly Torah portions derive their names from the very first words of the portion being read ; for example, the annual cycle of reading begins with the Portion called Bereshit – which is the very first word in the Hebrew Bible
(I guess the next question that arises in the interrogative or inquiring minds" And who is it that divides God's words into " portions "? For a correct answer to that I had better ask Professor Harrow, professor of the written word ; suffice it to say that the Almighty is by definition the Greatest Poet ( not the Prophet Moses or King David's Psalms or King Solomon's Proverbs , Song of Songs and Ecclesiastes) all in Lashon Hakodesh, Hebrew, the language known as "the holy tongue"
Perhaps some of the poetic thoughts are just rough outlines which the poet intends to return to to polish their interiors?
