Egg has joined the expanding list of food items
that were once on the top of the list for the perfectly "assimilated" in former
colonies- a list that included sausages, bacon, ham and white bread. Now we know that the nitrite preservatives in the bacon, ham and sausages are carcinogens. As for white bread, it is not as bad but high on the glycemic index - with implications for diabetes and heart disease.
It should be noted that the World Heath Organization places bacon and sausages in the same
category as asbestos, arsenic and tobacco.
Apparently roasted caterpillars and grilled termites are more nutritious
and healthy than the above- including eggs- subject to new information, of course.
Thanks for the report, Biko. The research queries are noted.
