Pan Africanism and Black Zionism
To a certain extent the parallels are there, parallels with the other Zionism which I would interpret to mean the right of the African Diaspora - what Malcolm X described as "catching hell" in the West ( cf. Racism/ anti-Semitism) the right of the Diaspora Africans to return back home to where they belong in Mother Africa, as happened in e.g. Freetown, Sierra Leone, " a province of Freedom..."
A topical headline: Marcus Garvey and Black African Zionism
With the horrors of The Middle Passage far behind, The Black Star Line was partly intended to be the carrier of Diaspora Africans safely back home to Mama Africa.
In today's world a Black Star Line between Africa and Europe could provide a much safer journey for our kindred who are this very moment drowning by their hundreds in the Mediterranean Sea , trying to arrive safely on the shores of Italy.
One day some organisation will arise – and succeed in stemming the the brain-drain and even reversing it, at which time perhaps with so many belonging to take back home with them, a new Black Star Line could do the job, but on second thoughts maybe airfreight would or could be a lot cheaper ( Nigerian Airways/ Ghana Airways/ Ethiopia airways .
