Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Obituary: Professor Aborisade

Professor Oladimeji Aborisade, the legendary Local Government scholar who delivered the seminal inaugural lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University titled "All politics is local" has passed on. Although he lived to a ripe old age, we shall surely miss him: a father, a mentor, a teacher, a devout Christian, an icon. My last practical engagement with him was in 2015 when he hosted me as a Visiting Scholar to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

"Professor Oadimeji Aborisade taught at UNC Charlotte between 1996 and 2017 in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and the Department of Africana Studies. Before that, he taught at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria (19977-1996) where he served as Professor of Local Government Studies, Dean of the Faculty of Administration, and Provost of the College of Administration, Law and Social Sciences. In recognition of his contributions to the academy and public service, the Council of Chiefs in his hometown, Ibadan, honored him with the title, Commander of the Golden Pen. "
