2019 FELA ANIKULAPO- KUTI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AFRICAN HOMELANDS AND SOCIAL THEORY

CALL FOR PAPERS/ ABSTRACT AND PANEL PROPOSALS

Dear Scholars,

THE FELA KUTI STUDIES GROUP, Ibadan, Nigeria hereby uses this opportunity to officially announce the call for papers/ abstracts and panel proposals for the 2019 Fela Anikulapo- Kuti International Conference on African Homelands and Social Theory.  The 2019 edition of the conference intends to critically examine the contested processes of (re)- writing African history, demystification of the complex cycle of decolonization of knowledge systems in Africa while unfolding theories and myths of cultural identity across all African societies, homelands and the African diaspora. The conference will examine the idea of universalism and globalization and their consequential effects on Africans - the people, the continent and their varied identities, cultures and traditions. The conference will encourage various dissenting views and critiques of the Western world domination and hegemonic hold on global power, religion, language, identity, education, politics, civilization, philosophy, science, technology and economics. It will accommodate research papers interrogating the (dis)connected African histories in 21st century, the identity of the African diaspora, illuminate Africa's position in the international political systems and give room for theories and scientific researches that examine the historical veracity of ancient Africans with the view to reposition the superiority and the importance of ancient civilizations before the Greeks appear in world history.
