The academic qualifications of Nigerians are always stronger than the economic, industrial and medical ailments afflicting our dear country. Our academic officials have not been able to treat or cure our nation of any of her ailments even when the main reason for their being employed and overpaid is to demonstrate the expertise they claim possession of. Ours is a nation where a hood does not actually make a Monk!
According to Chidi Anthony Okapa, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu LL.B, LL.M & LL.D, commenced practice in 1988 with the firm Livy Uzoukwu and Co. On 3 October 2002, the firm was registered as Livy Uzoukwu, SAN and Co., having been conferred with SAN honour three years earlier, in 1999. As it is publicly known, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu is the leading counsel for Atiku Abubakar in his presidential election petition against Muhammadu Buhari and INEC, which had declared the latter winner of the 2019 presidential election. In response to the petition, INEC averred, among other things, that Atiku Abubakar's leading counsel is not entitled to practise law in Nigeria because he has never been registered at the Supreme Court of Nigeria for that purpose as required by law and as such the petition should be dismissed for being incompetent. I suspect that it was this part of INEC's submission that has jaded Chidi Anthony Opara to post the profile of Dr. Livy Uzoukwu on this forum. But the profile is somehow deficient and incomplete as it does not contain when and where Dr. Livy Uzoukwu became a qualified lawyer and if he is licensed to practise law in Nigeria. It should be interesting to know which court cases Dr. Livy Uzoukwu have handled since 1988, when Mr. Opara claimed he commenced practising law, presumably in Nigeria, and up to date.

AN ENGLISH NURSERY RHYME
The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But leaves the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from off the goose
The law demands that we atone
When we take things that we do not own
But leaves the lords and ladies fine
Who take things that are yours and mine
The poor and wretched don't escape
If they conspire the law to break
This must be so but they endure
Those who conspire to make the law
The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
And geese will still a common lack
Till they go and steal it back

The firm is headed by Dr Livy Uzoukwu, LL.B, LL.M, LLD, SAN, OON. He was a former Honourable Attorney General of Imo State, Nigeria. Dr Uzoukwu is also an author and a publisher. He was in 1999 conferred with the highest distinction in the legal profession, the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The firm's relationship with its clients is based on experience, knowledge and professionalism.
The firm appreciates that legal practice is carried out in a continuously changing environment and that it is becoming increasingly a multi-jurisdictional and cross-border matter. The firm therefore has relationships and linkages with international law firms."
