--CAP Series on Black Biographies and Major Events
Series Editor: Toyin Falola
This pocket book series focuses on significant events in Africa and the African diaspora as along with the biographies of those who shaped those events. Ranging between 50,000 and 60,000 words, the objective of each book is to bring accessible knowledge to students and general readers in a stimulating manner, while not avoiding the important debates and controversial issues. The book series aims to capture historical, contemporary, and multidisciplinary outlooks in presenting and analyzing the biographies and life events of Black personalities, detailing their impact on culture, politics, and the world at large.
By discussing the historical moments, childhood and formative years, contributions, challenges, values, worldview, and legacies of these persons who instigated remarkable changes in politics, literature, art, culture, science, business, and much more, the series will emphasize Black and African contributions to their society and the world.
The series includes both individual case studies as well as comparative investigations. Beyond media and internet factoids, this series showcases products of in-depth research that upends the commonly accepted tropes about African experiences, and privileging research that boldly evaluates Black lives and events with novel insights.
