This is a well timed intervention by the NUC given the proliferation of universities and should be accompanied by its twin sister: a timely recurrent accreditation system.
Germaine to a quality accreditation system is the assurance that each university has a functioning provision of electricity and potable water system to ensure students have the deserved value for money.
These measures will ensure the Nigerian university system experiences a giant leap back to the future of a quality akin to the 1970s when it was the envy of the world. Government can then turn its attention to affordability through requisite schemes. Universities that can't keep up, needless to say, should be weeded out.
You can bet your last Naira diasporan academics will be leading the way for home grown education for their wards leading other internationals in bringing in sorely needed foreign currencies.
OAA.
