Farooq is questioning the interests of some, just as you have done in other contexts.
Those others have a right to express interests and he has a right to critique them.
What stood out for me from what Farooq posted from the statement he critiqued is the claim that the economy and the security situation in Nigera are good and that no changes are required of those who run the economy and the security services-CBN governor and service chiefs.
You and I know that the poverty situation and the security situation have degenerated severely since 2015.
So, anybody is very much in place wondering why anyone would claim to the contrary.
Farooq is also disturbed that these counterfactual claims are being made in the name of a group whose name has been coined to suggest people like himself-diaspora Nigerian academics-are part of it.
Is it not possible for the group to have chosen a name that does not suggest an umbrella organisation representing Nigerian diaspora academics?
Farooq is further disturbed that this organisation has only two active members, even though its name suggests something much more ambitious.
Truth is, when members of your household are insisting on celebrating the antics of an arsonist who is in the process of burning the house, its your duty to demonstrate your distress at such behavior, since those people embolden the arsonist.
These two scholars are members of Farooq's individual historical family- that represented by his personal history- and professional family-fellow Nigeria scholars.
Nigeria is on fire. Everybody is in danger from lawless Fulani bandits and kidnappers. Various regions are also almost in servitude to Fulani terrorist militia.
The Fulani national ruler is okay with the situation.
People who are crying out like Farooq are the true patriots.
