Hi Nagaraj,
Thanks for this link to a reasoned and informed counter-narrative (instead of primarily ad hominem attacks against Pankaj Mishra for his anti-Modi diatribe...):
Over the last couple of weeks, I've been following comprehensive online courses and reading much material on ancient Mesoamerican civilizations. I'm impressed by the deep genuine sympathy and respectful awe that American anthropologists in this domain publicly express for these diverse (Mayan, etc.) traditions and their contemporary inheritors, despite their ostentatious and ubiquitous practice of mass human sacrifice, exemplified by the Aztecs. Many of them are activist-scholars campaigning for native rights and generously teaching the Maya to decode and write their long forgotten glyphs.
How to account for the diametrically opposed stance adopted by Indologists to (Hindu) India, long reputed globally as the birthplace of the (ontological) ethics of non-violence (ahiṁsā)?
Regards,
Sunthar
