On a point of correction, Cornelius Hamelberg was not the author of 'A Response to the Anonymous Author on Yoruba Sexual Behaviour' but me. I derived the title from Mr. Shola Adenekan's submission posted by you on Tuesday, 28 May 2019. My reason for creating a new title in response to Mr. Adenekan's submission was in respect of your decision of Monday, 27 May 2019, to discontinue discussions on the subject that emanated from the demise of Binyavanga Wainaina. If you had abided by your decision of Monday, 27 May 2019, Shola Adenekan's submission of Tuesday, 28 May 2019, where he claimed to have excerpted from Ifa literature - Iworiwofin and Iworiwodi and translated the same wrongly to imply homosexual desire in Yoruba culture, should not have been posted. You allowed Mr. Adenekan to bash Yoruba people's culture with false translation of Ifa's Iworiwofin and Iworiwodi into English and when I submitted the true and correct translations, you deemed it homosexual bashing!! I am sad on reflecting on the history of HIV/AIDS that began with the protection of homosexuals at the expense of the Africans, particularly the Blacks.
Let's recall that the US Center for Disease Control Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report number 30 of Friday, 5 June 1981, published a report based on five Caucasian sodomites afflicted with strange illness that were not responding to treatments by Drs Michael Gottlieb and Joel Weisman. Professor Peter Duesberg wrote, "All of the known patients had been active male homosexuals who reported using *proppers,* the volatile nitrite liquid that had become the rage in homosexual community for its ability to facilitate anal intercourse, as well as to maintain erections and prolong orgasms (p.148, INVENTING THE AIDS VIRUS)." Further on page 228, Dr Duesberg wrote, "The volatile drugs (proppers =Amyl-Nitrites or the Nitrite compounds) made anal intercourse easier by relaxing the anal sphincter, but also had toxic effects on the blood and other parts of the body." Since all the patients treated by Gottlieb and Weisman that did not respond to treatments were Gays, their ailment was named GAY RELATED IMMUNODEFFICIENCY DISEASE (GRID).
In order to avoid offending the sensibilities of the homosexuals, Randy Shilts observed, "The report, therefore, appeared not on page one of the MMWR but in a more inconspicuous slot on page two. Any reference to homosexuality was dropped from the title, and the headline simply read: Pneumocystis Pneumonia -Los Angeles. Don't offend the gays and don't inflame the homophobes. These were the twin horns on which the handling of this epidemic would be torn from the first day of the epidemic (p.68-69, AND THE BAND PLAYED ON)." Neither the sodomites nor the US medical scientists liked the name of the disease, GRID, because as long as it was associated with copulation between the homosexuals it would not attract sympathy from the general public in the US as well as research funds from the US government. Thus, GRID induced opportunistic infections in the US homosexuals and at the same time opportunistic research funds in the US medical scientists, especially, the virologists. It was reasoned that research funds would rain into the medical scientists' pockets provided GRID could be transformed into a disease that threatened not only the lives of Americans but the whole world.
What happened next, Laurie Garrett revealed, "In August 1982, the CDC had quietly dropped the term GRID, changing the name of the disease to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) to reflect the recognition that it wasn't just a disease of gay men (p.309, The Coming Plague)." On his part, Professor Peter Duesberg explained, "Having decided that the syndrome was a simple contagious disease, the CDC now worked to swing the most biomedical and political institutions behind its new war. Support would be hard to gather unless the disease had an easily remembered name; by July of 1982, the CDC decided to call it, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The name also swept under the rug any connection between the syndrome and the risk groups (sodomites), a move favoured both by the CDC and the homosexual rights movements - who did not like emphasis on AIDS being a gay disease. In addition, more federal money had to be appropriated to give this disease more respectability and to attract more experts to this new field (p.150-151, INVENTING THE AIDS VIRUS)." On the change from GRID to AIDS, Randy Shilts wrote, "Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome gave the epidemic a snappy acronym, AIDS, and was sexually neutral. The word 'acquired' separated the immune deficiency from congenital defects or chemically induced problems, indicating the syndrome was acquired from somewhere even though nobody knew from where (p. 171, AND THE BAND PLAYED ON)."
The cause of AIDS and from where it came was the next step. In early 1982, James Curran of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) had approached Dr. Robert Gallo of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to get involved in the cause of AIDS. On his reaction to James Curran's request, Robert Gallo revealed, "Intellectually, I began to play out one scenario. What if AIDS were due to mutation of an HTLV, probably occurring in Africa, which has spread to Haiti, then to the United States (p. 136, VIRUS HUNTING By Robert Gallo, MD)?" HTLV stands for Human T-Cell Leukaemia Virus which Gallo claimed he discovered in 1981 but which the Japanese claimed was cultured from their ATLV, Adult T-Cell Leukaemia Virus. A compromise was reached whereby the disease was designated ATL and the virus that caused it was attributed to HTLV. It is remarkable that ATLV and HTLV conflict happened before GRID became public knowledge in the US. Gallo asserted too that HTLV originated in Africa from where Portuguese adventurers took it to Asia and the virus reached America through Slave trade. Robert Gallo and colleagues were later to claim that the AIDS was caused by a virus from African green monkeys and when other scientists disproved it, they shifted to African chimpanzees, and when that was scientifically disproved, they urged the world not to bother about the origin of AIDS and where the virus that caused it came from but to work to curb its spread. I underlined Africa and Haiti in my reference to Gallo above and here follows my reason for doing so. Specifically, in the 7 May 1984 issue of the Newsweek, Robert Gallo and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and Public Health professor, Yamil Khouri, saw AIDS connection between Zaire and Haiti. Zaire (Democratic Republic of Congo) imported nearly 10,000 Haitians a year for short-term contract work between 1960 and 1975. Gallo and Khouri assumed that HIV already had existed in Zaire at that time and was carried back to Haiti by returning Haitian contract workers who in turn infected homosexual American tourists. However, in 1985, a highly authoritative textbook was published and titled AIDS: Etiology, Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention. The book was edited, in part, by Vincent DeVita, Director of the National Cancer Institute. In the book, two NCI epidemiologists, James Goedert and William Blattner stated among other things that, 'There is no evidence that the AIDS Virus originated in Haiti, nor is it possible at this time to determine whether homosexual American tourists introduced AIDS into Haiti, or whether they returned from Haiti with the AIDS virus (p.130, AIDS AND THE DOCTORS OF DEATH BY ALAN CANWELL JR., M.D.)." Ironically, four months before GRID in the US was officially made known to the world through its MMWR, the 11th edition of Spartacus International Gay Guide, February 1981, edited by J.D. Stamford, revealed, "Early in 1980, several boys, aged 14 to 16, were hospitalized as a result of sodomy injuries caused by sadistic Caucasian tourists. The result of this was an outbreak of police attacks on the former free-and-easy gay scene and several places have subsequently been closed down. It is advisable for the time being to stay away from Haiti, as it is no longer the paradise it used to be (for homosexual tourists)." GRID was not only transformed to AIDS and turned to a none homosexual disease that could afflict both males and females but its origin and cause was allocated to Africa. Conscious of the fact of almost non-existing homosexuals in Black Africa, American scientists asserted that in Europe and America, the virus they claim causes AIDS, first LAV, later HTLV-III and now, HIV, is mainly an infection among homosexuals, drug addicts and prostitutes but in Africa it is mainly a heterosexual disease. While Black Africans passively looked on, unconcerned, some American and European scientists with conscience and high integrity rejected the idea that HIV caused AIDS which according to them was a life-style disease.
Professor Peter H. Duesberg, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Berkeley, edited the book titled, AIDS: VIRUS- OR DRUG INDUCED (CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN GENETICS AND EVOLUTION)?. In this book, the contribution of Gordon T. Stewart, Emeritus Professor of Public Health, University of Glasgow, was published on pages 163 to 183. His contribution was titled :The epidemiology and transmission of AIDS: a hypothesis linking behavioural biological determinants to time, person and place. Gordon T. Stewart wrote, "Male homosexual relationships without anal intercourse or injection of drugs are not associated with AIDS; neither is lesbianism. AIDS began and prevailed among passive males' and females' recipients of anal intercourse. This is because the rectal mucosa and its supporting tissues are relatively fragile, designed for excretory and not for intrusive activity. When the submucosa is eroded and blood vessels are damaged, the tissues and blood stream are opened to invasion by all the organisms of the faecal microflora, by the pathogens of all the sexually transmitted diseases and many others (p.176)." The core issue from the above-said is that anus is not biologically designed for copulation between two persons, male to male or male to female. When that natural law is violated, this is what happens according to Gordon T. Stewart, "Male homosexuals have anti-spermatozoa anti-bodies in the blood, which cross-react with T-cells and have been linked to the occurrence of azoospermia and testicular atrophy in homosexual men. The same anti-bodies have been detected in female patients with AIDS and are cross-reactive with T-cells and HIV anti-bodies. The common factor is obviously anal intercourse, a main risk-faktor for female as for male AIDS. These cross-reactions reflect a mixed state of allogenic and auto-immunity in which patients, with and without HIV, their own T-cells because they cannot distinguish antigens from spermatozoa, HIV, other infections, foreign proteins and cells in transfusions and in injection needles used for street drugs (p. 177-178)." Concluding on p. 179, Gordon T. Stewart wrote that AIDS is a disease acquired by self-preferred or imposed behaviours, which in themselves dysregulate immunity and homeostasis while also leading to exposure of various pathogenic and opportunistic infections. Professor Stewart was not bashing or insulting sodomites, he was only establishing biological facts. There is difference between the tissue construction of the male urethra and rectum and the female vagina. While the vagina is constructed of tough plate-like cells that resist rupture and infectious agents, and are designed to withstand the motion of intercourse and childbirth, the urethra and rectum are constructed primarily of columnar cells which tear or rupture easily. This allows semen the more readily accessible blood vessels of the rectum or, conversely, allows blood from a ruptured rectum to seep into the urethra of the inserted partner in anal intercourse. This information was provided in John Langone book, AIDS: THE FACTS, p.98. It is not difficult to understand that because of the tightness of the anus it will rupture when inserted with a hard erected penis which in turn will be seriously bruised to bleeding as attested by Dr. William F. Owen Jr., a medical practitioner in San Francisco, California, in the Journal, Med. Clinics of North America, 1986, Vol. 70, p.499-535, titled The Clinical Approach to the Male Homosexual Patient. Biologically speaking it is not insulting or homophobic to openly declare that anus is not equal to vagina and that the former is not designed by nature to take in anything but to serve as an exit for faecal matters.
When copulation between male homosexuals became bloody, relief was sought in chemistry. Professor Peter H. Duesberg narrated what happened. Under the sub-title, AIDS THROUGH CHEMISTRY, in his book titled, INVENTING THE AIDS VIRUS, he wrote, "During 1960s, male homosexual discovered the aphrodisiac effects of nitrites. Receptive anal intercourse became less painful because the anal sphincter (muscle) would relax; therefore receptive men (men whose anus are being inserted with penis) used for more of the drug than did their inserting partners. Nitrites also helped maintain erections and intensify orgasm, and some users even claimed euphoric 'high'. Few chemicals are more toxic than nitrites. Sodium nitrite, a much weaker, related compound used in tiny amounts as a preservative in meats, has been regulated (banned) for years as a potential cancer causing agent. The alkylated nitrites (proppers), on the other hand react more violently with almost anything. Upon mixing with water, as in the human body, these nitrites form the unstable nitrous acid, which in turn destroys any biological molecules within reach. The nitrites and their breakdown products have long been known to scientists for their ability to mutate DNA, … In addition, nitrites are some of the most powerful cancer causing chemicals in existence. In contact with living cells, nitrite inhalants are cytotoxic (cell killing), which means they either poison or kill cells including, of course, the blood-forming cells and the epithelial lining of the lungs. Since these are among the fastest growing cells in the body, they will also be among the first cells to be in short supply if the sources are intoxicated. This is the reason that nitrites cause anaemia, immunodeficiency, and pneumonia in experimental animals ( p.270-271)." Further on p.274-275, Professor Duesberg wrote, "The toxicity of nitrites to the cells of the lung and the immune system also explains the proclivity of male homosexual nitrite users for pneumonia, which is the most common AIDS disease in the United States and Europe." Professor Duesberg did not believe that AIDS was a disease but a syndrome of old diseases reclassified and blamed on HIV. To him, a single virus as HIV was incapable to cause about 31 known old diseases. There were many scientists who held the same view.
Kary Mullis received Nobel prize in Chemistry in 1993 for inventing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), ironically used by AIDS officials who claim they can find HIV in almost every antibody-positive AIDS patient. Kary Mullis did not accept that HIV causes AIDS and said, ''I can't find a single virologists who will give me references which show that HIV is the probable cause of AIDS.... If you ask a virologist for that information, you don't get an answer, you get fury." He then asked, "How could a dormant virus cause fatal AIDS?" Thereafter he asserted, "Biochemistry demands that every biochemical reaction is a consequence of an equivalent biochemical action. Thereafter, he followed it with a question, "How could a virus that can be seen only after a billion-fold amplification be responsible for the fatal biochemical reactions that kill AIDS patients (p.251, INVENTING THE AIDS VIRUS, By Peter H. Duesberg, with foreword written by Kary Mullis)?" In chapter 10 of Joan Shenton's book, Positively False - Exposing the Myth Around HIV and AIDS, Kary Mullis was quoted to have asserted that, Human beings are full of retroviruses, and neither HIV nor any other retrovirus by itself poses any kind of threat. Which is not to say that there is no such thing as AIDS - only that HIV doesn't cause it (p.154)." Drug assisted sex in combination with anal intercourse practised by the homosexuals were the cause of AIDS but for political and commercial (economic) reasons AIDS was projected as a virus caused disease that originated from Black Africa. These facts are scientifically proved and do not constitute homo-bashing or homophobia.
Back to Shola Adenekan's message of 28 May 2019, which was posted a day after the moderator had notified discussants of his decision to discontinue debates arising from the demise of Binyavanga Wainaina and which caused the moderator to reject response to him The said message by Mr. Adenekan began, "This is a forum for scholars and thinkers. We deal with facts. So, instead of just indulging in beer parlour banters, let us deal with facts." Mr. Adenekan, a scholar and a thinker told readers that he reviewed an article for a scholarly journal 8 years ago but he hid the name of the journal and its editor from readers. The article Mr. Adenekan reviewed, he claimed, was authored by an anonymous writer who argued that the Yoruba people accepted the reality of homosexuality. The purported argument that depicted Yoruba people as accepting the reality of homosexual was presented by Mr. Adenekan in the following manner. "Anyway, here is an excerpt from the peer-reviewed article on same-sex desire in Yoruba culture. This is depicted in the excerpts below taken from Ifá literature, Iwori-wofin and Iworiwodi respectively." Part of Iworowofin and Iworiwodi in Yoruba reads: Epo sée Jesu; Isu sée jepo; Ákàsò ló dùn ùn gàkà; Obìnrín sé é básùn jokùnrin lo; Okùnrin sé é sùn tì jobìnrín lo-5; Bókùnrín bá nbokùnrín sùn; Bii kókó, bii oowó ni; Bii ikú, bii àgbà-àrùn ni; Bobìnrín bá nbóbìnrín sùn; Bi èpètè, bii oorùn ni-10, Bi eròfò, bi eerí ni. Mr. Adenekan translated Iworiwofin and Iworiwodi stanza by stanza into English as follows : Palm oil is good to be eaten with boiled yam; Boiled yam is good to be eaten with palm oil; Ladder is good to climb a barn/rafter; It is pleasant for a man to have sexual intercourse with a woman; It is pleasant for a woman to have sexual intercourse with a man - 5; If a man is having sexual intercourse with another man; it results into lumps, boils and yaws; If a woman is having sexual intercourse with another woman, it results into murk and fowl odour-10, It results into mud and dirt. Mr. Adenekan translated his own mind to arrive at same-sex desire in Yoruba culture. Here follows my own translation : Oil is suitable for eating yam; Yam is suitable to taste oil; Ladder is suitable for climbing a barn; It is natural (possible) to copulate with a woman than a man; It is easier for a man to sleep beside a man than a woman-5; Should a man copulate with a man; It is like excrescence, it is like boil; It is like death, it is like a great disease; Should a woman copulate with another woman; It is like mire, it is like foul odour-10; It is like swamp, it is like dirt. Mr. Adenekan translated Ifa -Iworiwofin and Iworiwodi out of context because he assumed that the primary purpose of sexual intercourse in Yoruba land is pleasure, for which same gender can be engaged. The most common daily prayer among the Yoruba people, beside salvation from poverty and to have plenty of money, good health and long life, is to have many children and not to be barren in life. Daily prayer of Yoruba people, and indeed all Nigerians, focusses on requests to God for money, children, good-health and to reach old-age before death. Thus, a daily prayer will sound like this : Olórun, gb'ómo yíwa ká, nitóri ògèdè kii nikan duró; Kábímo ni ìdèra niìbépe nto omó rè sórùn; ògèdè kii gbé odò kó ya àgàn; Bee ni ewúre ki ndàgbà kó je owó onile gún; Gbógbó ìyàwó ti a fé silé, ki won bi'mo lásìkò: Oluwa fún wa ni omo àtàtà, ti omá tóju wa nigbàti a bá di arúgbó, nitori bí òkété bá d'àgbà, omú omo ré ni nmu. Approximate translation will be: God, surround us with children because banana plant never stands alone; Given birth with easiness is what makes a pawpaw plant to arrange its fruits around its neck; Banana living in the river is never barren; As a matured goat never turns into a lost for its owner, let all wives give birth to children in time. God, give us good children that shall take care of us when we become old, because when the forest rabbit is old it has to suckle on its offshoots. To procreate, there must be copulation between a man and a woman, and even in this age of artificial insemination (assisted fertility) the insemination materials must still be collected from both a woman and a woman. In a country, like Nigeria, where having children is of major concern to every citizen, the practice of same-sex copulation will remain in the figment of imagination of the likes of Mr. Shola Adenekan. There is nothing discriminatory, prejudicial or phobic in stating that same-sex copulation is biologically impossible, a fact that has been confirmed, not only by the anonymous writer of Ifá Iworiwofin and Iworiwodi, but by Professor Gordon T. Stewart and others.
Elsewhere on this subject, Mr. Adenekan wrote, "There are symbols of homoeroticness (?) in Yoruba culture and religions. For example, Shango is known for wearing skirts and braiding his hair. Devotees of Shango (both males and females) fondly refer to him as 'Shango Olukoso, oko mi' (meaning Shango Olukoso, my husband)." Sàngó was a man who married to a woman named Oya, to whom a river called Oya was dedicated but was changed by the colonialist to River Niger. If wearing of skirt made Sàngó a symbol of homoerotic in Yoruba culture and religion, then, wearing of kilts by all Scottish men should make them all homosexuals. The Christian sect in Nigeria known as Cherubum and Seraphim and both males and females often chorus a song in Yoruba thus, Jésù gbéwa ni Ìyàwó, awá di eni ìgbàlà, meaning, Jesus married us as wives and we became salvaged. Is that also a symbol of homoerotic and, perhaps, bi-sexuality in Yoruba culture?
Strictly observed Europe and America have many types of sexual intercourses that are unknown in Africa where it is limited to penile and vaginal penetration. For instance, what is called oral sex in the US and Europe was unknown in African culture. Let's recall the impeachment process initiated by the US Congress against former President Bill Clinton in which he was accused of lying on oath that he had never had sexual intercourse with Monica Lewinsky. That was after Linda Tripp, Monica's close friend, had tipped the FBI that Monica Lewinsky had preserved a gown stained with Clinton's sperm when they had sex on 28 February 1997 was kept by Monica as a souvenir and FBI got it. In order to avoid being DNA tested, Bill Clinton admitted that sperm's stains the blue gown was his and it was not as a result of vaginal sex with Monica but it occurred when he withdrew his penis from the mouth of Miss Lewinsky. The US Congress freed Bill Clinton on the ground that what he did was immoral but biologically, he did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky because mouth is not a sexual organ like vagina. Bill Clinton would have been regarded as having had sexual intercourse with Miss Lewinsky if he had penetrated her vagina with his penis. The mouth as we are brought up in Africa is biologically made for eating, drinking and to issue vocal sounds and not for sexual activities. Just as with the sodomites as well as oral sex practitioners, I am not insulting, abusing, being homophobic or discriminating whenever I say that neither the anus nor the mouth is created for sexual purpose.

My brothers and sisters:
I have declined many postings in the last few days. I am also afraid to transfer posting rights to Bisola Falola and Vik Bahl who assist when I am out of the US because I don't want them to post something that I will not be happy with.
I have declined to post for three reasons:
- Increasing level of insults—I have declined six posts on Farooq. No one has the right to insult another person. Yes, let us disagree with intense passion. Farooq is idealistic, and Nigeria needs people like Farooq in all families, campuses and cities. I can have dinner with Farooq and Moses everyday as being idealistic does not mean that they hate anyone. Indeed, they are driven by excessive love for people. We are looking for progress, and progress will not come unless we disagree. I actually encourage people to disagree with me. I provoke, and like Mohammed Ali, the boxer, I can take heavy pounding. It does not bother me if you disagree with me. No one is ever wise enough. A conflict model of society works, as long as that conflict is driven by higher ideals. On an average, I get 4 messages of private insults every week. I actually reply to them, seeking forgiveness. I declined one post by Farooq on Jibrin. I refused to post all of IBKs on Farooq as he is basically insulting him.

- I did not post Cornelius on Yoruba Ifa on homosexuality.
Whenever I decline, I feel an intense pain as censorship is by itself very bad.
If any post bothers you, know that I read everything and I feel the pain. I put 18 hours into this, refusing to sleep for any significant bloc of time. I set my computer to Austin time so that you don't feel disrespected in view of time difference.
