Dear friends:
I am very saddened to inform you that only this morning did I learn of the passing of our author, friend and compatriot, Prof. Sharifa M. Zawawi in her beloved Zanzibar on August 6.
Personally, I have worked with Prof. Zawawi for over 30 years, and published or republished six of her books.
She was a tireless master teacher of the Kiswahili language in the United States who reached out to the wider African and African American community in her advocacy of the language as a Pan-African agenda.
I will write more about her in our web site and face book, but I rush to share this sad news with you.
