My Friend,  

 

First, a confession. When I tuned into your Interview with "Rose on All Sides", I became quickly aware we would hear little of ANY side of Rose. Instead we were in for an Oration, a Tour de Force from YOU. It is indeed a form of expression that my wife reminds me I am on occasion given to adopt—I confess, and admit my Nigeria and Africa friends are TOTALLY  responsible for these enlivenments to my thetoric. …And today we have very nice, soft-spoken English guests for lunch. Given the political gymnastics currently ongoing here—with Boris trying to out-Trump Buhari—Pat observed, firing a severe glance in my direction, "I expect there will be wall to wall politics under discussion." Being the well-behaved person that she, a true Brit, has NEARLY trained me to be under such polite circumstances—I am a Canadian ruffian by birth—I made a promise:  "My dear. I guarantee; should there be any such discussion, my contributions SHALL be limited to INTERROGATIVES ONLY. Nothing more." The look she gave me, suggests she awaits proof. (More below)

 

At any rate, that said, It is wonderful to hear your words. It brings to me the great memories I have of the sacred person who shouted loud--in quiet words—Obo Akenzua of Benin; i hear him now, may his spirit be blessed; I see my good friend, that stormy "political petrel" the Brits and AG loved to hate, known also as "B 2" (the Registration number on his car: Oba Akenzua, of course, was "B 1") Chief Humphrey Omo-Osagie; the person whom Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, Federal Govt mid-wife to the MW State, revered as HIS "political god-father". ...There are so many hugely amazing folk of those days from Bini/ Edo/ Western Ibo country, and the many other proud and deeply historic Cultural Sections of the old Benin and Delta Provinces, who became valued friends, whose memories are bright/ vivid in my soul; all persons who duly rallied to the MW Call, when in August 1963 it came.

 

They all shine brightly in my Field of Dreams. I look forward to one day now not distant, joining them at the High Table where we may meet and greet again; that Table of the Creator, where Great Light shines, and where Darkness has been banished to the margins. ..I only hope they may find room to sqeeze in this Oyinbo, to whom the Creator opened the door of the amazing MW peoples. Twas my honour and Privilege to try to serve them well with my heart, mind and pen. ...My name is Michael Vickers, a small boy who grew greatly in mind and spirit, thanks to the inspiration and love and loyalty of so many great and very ordinary MW folk. I thank you for your inspiring words.

 

I am pleased to see your line of work. You have all the media access through your ACC Broadcast Multimedia Ltd, to ensure that Cyber-engagement enables ALL folk, world-wide will come to know of the MW, its Peoples and their unique historic achievement. You see, my brother, you are in your words and presence, much more than a person rallying folk of MW root and sentiment, indeed ALL those Nigeria folk who can see the useful prospects for adapted deployment of its model in this modern day. You see, you are speaking the basic language of INCLUSION; the only basis upon which folk of this small planet may come together in peace and actuation and vast Productivity. We all have so much to give and share with our brothers and sisters worldwide; and YOU my friend, are one of today's Important Gate-Keepers—or should I say, "Gate-Openers"?  AND you have our vital, and revolutionary instrument of Communication in your working hands, the Internet, the cyber-worlds it opens, and the folk it has the transfiguring power to elevate into the Great Light and Achievement the Creator has opened to us. You are doing well, my friend.

 

Attached for you is copy of LOOKING BACK FROM THE FUTURE, also ON WINGS OF LIGHT.  It could be said these small works represent the height of mind and spirit to which this small boy has been elevated; the initial trigger of release being the MW Movement, and all those folk of those days, who unknown to me, helped open me to the same possibilities that lay beyond for ALL folk of this small young planet—a planet said to be 4 billion years of age; of which we very new newcomers, of what we name the "human species" have in our mere 15,000 years of Socially Organised Living, made an amazing start; a start that has in the past 100 years, suddenly accelerated at what can only be termed, exponential rates. ...And this, my friend, is the world in which you are engaging; a world in which you are poised to be a major player.

 

What, one wonders, would your ancestor, Agho, duly Iyase (Prime Minister) of Benin, himself the vital transformative figure in a time of grave dys-function in Bini-land and beyond, make of your modern placement? 

"Right man, right place, right time. Tis always thus. I was there, a hand-maid to the future in all that savage chaos brought upon us by the Imperial British in 1897. You are here now. Destiny has handed you the torch. You have the doors wide open to move ALL to a higher level. It is what in modern terms I expect of you. …Go, my son and blood. Go and fulfil the role the Creator has assigned you."

PS—The lunch went well. AND, …I kept to my promise. With but one small slip—and that was NOT in relation to "Boris attempting to out-Trump Buhari", or any other observations on the enlivening sight of the Mother of Parliaments currently fragmenting/ unravelling before one's eyes. …You see Brits are embarrassed and upset when their "democratic parliamentary" system is unmasked, suddenly and quite dramatically, as mere oligarchy—and has been since the start of Kings/ Queens/ Dictators/ Despots/ Tyrants/ Autocrats, having to let go their public grip and concede ground. …And indeed, not just Brits but also today's many world Dictators/ Tyrants/ Autocrats who now bask in the glow of "Free and Fair Elections", touchstone to Popular Legitimacy under the worldwide mantra of "Freedom & Deemocracy". Mmmm. Yes indeed. You see, Buhari is fully entitled to advertise his regime as conforming to the rules of "Freedom & Democracy". He is on an equal footing with both Trumpie and Boris in this regard. Quite wonderful. Increasingly, we all are singing from the same song sheet. …Inclusion can be achieved by many routes. Back door and side, as well as front.  …Life is full of surprises. … Enough. Mv
