CALL FOR PAPERS:
6TH SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE, UNIVERSITY OF GHANA
Date: 15-16 April, 2020
Venue: University of Ghana, Legon
Theme:
Linking Social Science Research to Africa’s Transformational Agenda
Africa has dedicated its collective efforts since the 1960s towards the attainment of the socio-economic progress of its people. Despite the many achievements of the continent over the years, it is still plagued with challenges such as corruption, poverty, inequality, civil strife, perilous migration and brain drain. The Africa Union’s Agenda 2063, dubbed “the Africa we want” outlines the vision towards a renewed transformation of the continent. The role of the social scientist in this transformational agenda involves conducting cutting-edge research that contributes to social and economic development, especially in the areas of democratic governance, peace and security, social inclusion, gender equality, and migrant re-integration. Social science research is positioned to investigate new opportunities, promote innovative ideas and harness international best practices for Africa’s transformational agenda.
The Conference organizers warmly invite you to submit abstracts for participation in the 6th School of Social Sciences International Conference. We particularly invite papers that combine empirical findings with theoretical reflections under the following sub-themes:
- Migration and Reintegration
- Governance and Elections
- Economic Growth and Development
- Gender, Social Inequalities and Vulnerabilities
- Attitudes, Behaviours and Institutional Change
