Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Questions for the Nigerian Left by Edwin Madunagu

I think this proposal by Edwin Madunagu i- if implemented s the singular most important development in Marxism since the Russian Revolution.  It is somewhat similar to the reforms  the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is seeking to make regarding received Islam as it applies to Nigeria.

The Marxists like contemporary Muslims relate to their primary texts as texts written on stone and therefore indelible and unchangeable .  They  forget that the contents were products of a transient socio- political moment in time and hence will not work for ALL time and would continually need to continually respond to the permanence of change to stand the test of time like another seminal text the Ifa Corpus was programmed to do right from the start.

As Edwin Madunagu has clearly demonstrated in this piece orthodox Marxism has sacrificed convenience for pragmatism with their vision on the Third International or disguised colonial project by emphasising class at the expense of nation so that Marxism and Socialism is accepted internationally far away from its founding metropolis.

Thay process of unraveling that is the persistence of nation started from nowhere else but the Russian metropolis some of which symptoms included the reign of terror to enforce the orthodoxy.

International examples include the January 1966 'revolution  in Nigeria, the face off among Ethiopian and Eritrean Marxist, the Chinese ethnic question etc.

All of these demonstrate what I have stated previously that Marxism was a fool proof religion designed by its originators for a self serving imperial purpose gentrified by the veneer of science.

It is now time for a reality check.  It is in the reality check that is found that all individuals are not created equal, cultural needs differ from nation to nation as indeed individual needs.

Geo- political as well as economic  restructuring as the new focus of the Nigerian Left will make it more relevant as the current capitalist ruling class is to the needs of Nigerians and as a viable alternative for governance.  It won't then be called Marxism would it?  Perhaps the New Marxism to borrow a leaf from New Labour in the United Kingdom.  An attempt by the British Labour Party to return to Old Labour with the old socialist vision for the whole of Europe (I call it European Third International) cost it the most colossal electoral loss last night since 1935.

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Questions for the Nigerian Left by Edwin  Madunagu

I propose that Nigerian Leftists, especially those of Marxist orientation, should advance the debate on the National Question and Geopolitical Restructuring in Nigeria with the twin-objective of arriving at a common position in Nigeria and simultaneously contributing to the further development of Marxism on this question. This effort will also, simultaneously, advance the process of founding a nationwide Revolutionary Party that is substantial, authoritative and respected.
