along with teju! two wonderful men, dying too too young, with great accomplishments. james brought together the african studies and african american studies people on campus, at msu, after years of alienation between them. he was the right person to do this, and his warm personality made it possible.
teju to me was like pius. a man of great intellect and accomplishments, with the world of major work in front of him.
two great pillars have passed, and we will mourn their loss for a long time.
