Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - nigerian english now official in oed

Whatever we say 'sef' and ' severally' definitely qualify as REGIONAL standard English due to long, regular, wide and standardized usage let the self appointed English police on this forum take note!  The tussle between prescriptive and generative grammarians is age long.

English has always evolved and standardized English in Shakesoearean times is no longer standardized English even in England the birth place of English ye gods, thine will be done!

Now add the place of the Commonwealth in the post- BREXIT world.

And that does not mean academics have no right to stick to their own use and jargons as their own specific English dialect. Law jargon for instance has stood the test of time despite changes to the language.

For me when you say "native speaker" I say 'native of where?  The closest in the family ( UK, CANADA, US, IRISH & AUSTRALIA) are not exactly identical.  They have their differences and do not penalize each other for such differences.  Why penalize other non-western members of the British Commonwealth?

  1. Did you know there is a 12 word phrase you can speak to your crush... that will induce intense feelings of love and instinctual attractiveness for you buried inside his chest?

Because deep inside these 12 words is a "secret signal" that triggers a man's instinct to love, idolize and care for you with his entire heart...

12 Words That Trigger A Man's Love Response

This instinct is so built-in to a man's brain that it will make him work harder than before to make your relationship the best part of both of your lives.

Matter-of-fact, fueling this dominant instinct is so mandatory to achieving the best ever relationship with your man that once you send your man a "Secret Signal"...

...You'll immediately notice him expose his soul and heart to you in such a way he haven't experienced before and he'll recognize you as the one and only woman in the galaxy who has ever truly attracted him.
