--Septuagenarian Professor Levi Nwachukwu, born on 08/23/1940, died last Saturday after a battle with sickness. He was among the generation that stayed abroad in part because of the civil war and its consequences. A generation of the outstanding cluster of historians—including Professor G. Uzoigwe and Professor Felix Ekechi—Professor Nwachukwu faced the North and South, looked East and West, and stayed close to the Center.
He worked for 8 years at Michigan Flint before moving to Lincoln University in 1989 where he taught for over three decades. He built the African History program at Lincoln and trained many generations of students who have gone to various prestigious positions. One of his books that made it to the classroom was African-American Studies: significance and meaning revisited.
As for man, his days are like grass.....
For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place remembers it no more.

everlasting to everlasting

May those who support others in their moments of joy and pain be compensated when it is their turn. For joy and pain are part of life, and no one is free of both. Pain carries a small piece of joy, and joy carries a small piece of pain. May your grace for others be returned with grace to you.
