You are indeed right! This was why I asked that the other lingua francas of Nigeria should be activated at the federal level urgently as languages of political discourse in the polity to be translated to English for citizens outside the catchment areas of the public holders involved. Thats in the short term.
In the long term I also asked that those desiring to be FEDERAL political office holders be tested in the four key areas of language in the four lingua francas ( listening with comprehension, speaking fluently, reading and writing) before being allowed to run for federal offices.

Have you noticed the official memos from the highest levels of government and the quality of language? Read that from the State House, Bauchi. Pay attention to the "kovik 19" in that of the President.
Can we not ask them to write in Hausa instead?
