Dear Chidi,
Once upon a time I thought/ used to think that in addition to the God-Complex, the White Man has an age complex. Always talking about it. Now, more than ever before. This is now being confirmed every day. People are now being classified according to age and survivability, babies, toddlers, children, teens, are now the strongest people in the corona-generation, on this planet, those most guaranteed to survive – i.e. to survive the global pandemic and to live longest. Then there are the 20 to 60-year olds. It figures. When you're 60 years old you are at the very least "half-way "through life's pilgrimage – as Baba Kadiri often reminds me, we were only allotted " three score years and ten ", after which by the grace of God, mortal man is living on "extra-time". Baba Kadiri often tells me to "eat well" – I ask him why, he says, so that I may feed the worms, fatten them.
However, on the more optimistic side of reality, the traditional Jewish optimism is "May you live to be 120 years old - the age at which Moses passed on into the Haba Olam. But the Jews are mostly born optimistic anyway, they say you have to be optimistic to have a few centimetres clipped or chopped off your male member when you are only a few days old - trusting in future growth and advancement.
So, 60- 70 is the buffer zone, and over 70, you are in the Corona Virus danger zone, living on extra time as endangered species. This is drummed into your ear by the media – in fact, there is a medical press conference almost every hour giving us the latest figures on how many have been smitten, how many are in intensive care and how many have joined the congregations of the dearly departed.
For some of the senior folks over here ina Sweden, it's like life is now being lived on tiptoe. After watching CNN last night and being told that you can be infected by standing / or sitting within six feet and merely talking to/with someone who is infected but doesn't know that he/ she is infected, it should be a reasonable, life-saving conclusion, that one ought not to talk to anyone. You never know.
Well, consider (What Cornelius Ignoramus read this morning) it's all about life and the Hereafter: https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/shabbat-30/
From the sublime to the mundane: At least, Youth is Africa's strength and advantage. Less than 5% (five percent) of Africa's population South of the Sahara is over sixty (60) years old…

With millions of Americans concerned about coronavirus, radio host Rush Limbaugh is providing some perspective on the actual number of fatalities from COVID-19 compared to those from other causes.
On his Wednesday broadcast, Limbaugh cited a list from worldometers.info that rounded up the worldwide deaths from Jan. 1 through March 25 of 2020:
"Coronavirus: 21,000 deaths.
Seasonal flu: 113,000.
Malaria: 228,000.
Suicide: 249,000.
Traffic fatalities: almost 314,000 deaths.
HIV/AIDS, 391,000 deaths.
Alcohol-related deaths, 581,000.
Smoking-related deaths, 1,162,000.
Cancer deaths, 1,909,000 deaths.
Deaths attributed to starvation, 2,382,000 deaths.
And death by abortion, 9,900,000."
"I'm not trying to make any correlation," Limbaugh explained.
"I'm not trying to say, 'Hey, we're overreacting to coronavirus death.' I'm just giving you the stats here. You can react to these stats however you wish."
