Now you are talking!!!!!!! Discovered her in circa 2012 and fell mercilessly in love with her, bare feet and all (minus her love of cigarettes though, which eventual killed her). What a shame, the loss of such talent!

 

Your passion for and knowledge of music/musical genre (unknown to me until last month) is a shared one with one difference: my genre is classical music – yes, that's right, from having an Oyinbo daddy!!!!!😊

Cesaria Evora (1941-2011) is the jewel from Cape Verde. "Is," not "was," as her light will never dim. Her song, "Voz d'Amor" received the Grammy in 2004. The "Barefoot Diva!" was her aka, derived from her discomfort from wearing shoes on stage. In 2010, she received for the second time the Kora All African Music Award. She was knighted in France in addition to becoming the first from her country to be inducted into the French Legion of Honor. Today is dedicated to her music.
