Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - CBS News: George Floyd's death sparks massive protests in Minneapolis

It is actually very difficult talking about this video. It is difficult to watch, yet impossible to erase from your memory after watching it. This circle of violence continues and we see it regularly. It is probably not the worse we have seen and certainly unlikely to be the last we would see.

What makes this seriously confusing for me is that irrespective of the public anger and protest following each such inhuman act by the very people publicly paid to protect the people and ensure public order, the next set of police officers reproduces a worse act as if they are competing to see who can perpetuate the most injustice and misconduct.

You then ask yourself whether these police officers live in the same society or whether they every follow the news. A few days later, all the outcry and public anger dies down and everyone patiently waits for the scene of the next violent murder of yet another citizen. Can this ever stop? Is there anything, the public can do to stop this?

The world united against and stopped slavery. The world stopped apartheid in South Africa (eventually). The world united and stood up against decapitation, rape, the killing of twins, violence against LGBT people who experience violence directed toward their sexuality or gender identity among others.

Why has it been difficult to united against and stop this recurring violence and death of blacks (and other minorities) particularly on American streets and in some other parts of the world? Why has it been so easy to divide the human race on this one? What happened to our humanity?

This is a horrible video. Sad. Very sad. How do these policemen go to sleep at night? What type of a human being will kneel on someone's neck with all their weight at an angle that can break the neck? Are we so callous that we no longer see one another as humans? What have we degenerated to? God almighty please help humanity. I cannot but cry looking at this video.
