Ghana has produced a long list of talented female singers from the older gospel singers like Esther Smith, to the newer generation gospel singers such as Diana Asamoah. Five women dominate the secular space, and for today, my choice is Wendy Shay.
Wendy Addo was born in Ghana, and she later migrated to Germany where she emerged as a notable Afrobeat singer and famous for Afro-pop. Young, energetic, vibrant, Afro-politan, she brings class and elegance to her performance.
Let us start with her famous song, Kut-It. Don't waste this music---dance to it---"go down low," she pleads. Listen to the words---lamentation and critique of society.
