You are right.  What I wanted to write was that Edison was the inventor of the light bulb.

African American Lewis Latimer invented the bulb filament that made the bulb last longer ( among a host of other inventions.)

Somehow I always associate the two together in my mind for years even while teaching Black History.

But the saying I credited to Edison about genius  actually came from Edison and not Latimer.
