This is not my research but those of others—Islamic marriages tend to be more enduring and lasting than most others. These studies are many, conducted in different countries over time. Today, I am not interested in the reasons. Islam pursues a much broader concept of love. In one of the narrations in Hadith, a clearer statement was made:
"By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, you will not enter Paradise unless you believe, and you will not believe unless you love each other. Should I direct you to something that if you constantly did it, you would love each other? Spread the greetings of peace among you."
Both the Bible and the Quran are actually united about Abraham, Adam and Eve, etc. Both agree on the nobility of marriage.
You must cultivate affection and show mercy:
And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought." [Quran 30:21]
"Among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, in order to have tranquility with them and He put love and mercy between your (hearts) : verily in that are signs for those who reflect." Quran Ar-Rum [30:21]
As you fast and pray, remember to pray for peace, love in our world. Pray for humility, the greatest gift of all:
"Knock, And He'll open the door.
Vanish, And He'll make you shine like the sun.
Fall, And He'll raise you to the heavens.
Become nothing, And He'll turn you into everything." ― Rumi
