Alao Adedayo, a journalist in his early sixties, is the publisher of Alaroye, the Yoruba national Newspaper, Iwe Iroyin to n soju omo Yoruba nibi gbogbo. He is from Abeokuta, Ogun State. He attended Abeokuta Grammar School, Times Journalism Institute, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, University of Ado Ekiti, Ambrose Ali University, and the Lagos Business School. He has a Master's degree in Public Administration and another one in Business Administration.
In the late 1970s, Alao started his career as a Yoruba newsreader with the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Lagos), from where he moved to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (Radio Nigeria) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He quit broadcasting to start the publication of Alaroye in 1996. Since then, the newspaper has remained on the newsstand, preserving and protecting the Yoruba language, as well as serving as the voice of its people.
