i agree that rule by force is very often a formula for unrest. often the unrest fails to unseat the ruler. only look at biya or nguema. rulers forever.

It seems to me Deby's death was in fact an error waiting to happen given his medieval style personal war leadership.
The appointment of his son as interim leader was to forestall his loyalist base thinking it was stage managed by the military high command.

a report i read:
True, there are calls for demonstrations today. There were demonstrations yesterday that have been violently repressed. Demonstrators were dispersed by tear gas and live ammunition. Five persons have been killed according to the government, nine according to civil society and opposition.
