The Nnamdi Kanu debacle is but one of the many tongs in the fires of agitation, insubordination, insurrection , terrorism, ransom kidnapping, the break down of law and order we see daily degenerating into the anarchy that now has the nation in its permanent grip.
When we cut through her forest of words about the mitigating circumstances and strip Sister Abimbola Adelakun's opinion piece to it's bare essentials - i.e. the accusations that she piles up against her president, it doesn't take much witchcraft or wizardry or imagination to cook up this kind of response - to her - from President Buhari - in his own beautiful diction (far from any notions brutality) - a language that we can all understand , even when put as tersely as follows :
O ye who believe in the rule of law please try to understand that the legal pursuit , the legal arrest and the legal arraignment of the fugitive Nnamdi Kanu before a Nigerian Court of Law to face the various, serious charges piled up against him is in order to make a statutory example of Mr. Kanu, by due judicial process.
BTW, whatever happened with the fellow who stood as bond for Kanu's bail , a fellow who according to rumour didn't even put the cash up front , and according to reliable reports has still not done so, not even with some fool's gold….
It should be interesting to see what kind of trial it's going to be, if it will provide Mr. Kanu with an opportunity to defend his actions, his philosophy, like Madiba Nelson Mandela in the dock : "I am prepared to die" , like Dave Dellinger ( Revolutionary Nonviolence) like The Testimony of Steve Biko (not that we are comparing Mr kanu with any of the aforementioned, but Mr. Kanu also has a cause , just like Omoyele Sowore who – so far has been denied the opportunity of defending/ showcasing his ideas at any so called " treason" trial
Deeply insightful, beautifully written
